Attract Capital Investment

The City of Memphis works with partner agencies to attract capital investment from both new and existing businesses. This creates new jobs and pumps money into the Memphis economy.
Two of the city's key partners in promoting capital investmentare the Economic Development Growth Engine (EDGE) and Downtown Memphis Commission (DMC). Both work to increase economic development in Memphis through payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) programs, as well as a variety of grant, loan, and bond funding opportunities.

The chart below shows the cumulative total of projected capital investments since January 2016 for projects that received an incentive from EDGE or the DMC. This includes PILOTs, loans, grants, and bonds. These incentives have resulted in over two billion dollars of projected investment in 3 years.
